| Customer Reviews: great for a year July 7, 2010 Jennifer Barr (PA United States) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought one of these a year ago. My kids used it almost every day during the summer and probably 3-5 times a week even over winter time. We purchased huge jugs of slushie syrup at our local hardware/party rent-a-center.
For the price, we definately got our money's worth, considering how much use we got out of it.
Unfortunately, the little tabs on the cups don't last forever and end up breaking off. Once those tabs are gone....the machine will not work since the tabs have to be in place (safety issue).
So my only complaint is they should make the tabs more durable and also it would be nice to have a few extra cups included w/the purchase of the machine.
If the tabs lasted longer then it would definately get 5 stars from me.
This thing is very versatile! July 16, 2010 tn turtle 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought the original slushie express 3 yrs ago. I think this is a newer model, but this thing is wonderful! Aside from slushies, we use it to make smoothies, adult frozen beverages, or to simply puree small quantities of food (like tomatoes plus a little water) for cooking. Much easier to clean than a blender, very small, easy to operate, safe for older children to use. I did have to order new cups last summer b/c the tabs broke off the original cups, but the newer cups seems to have sturdier tabs. None of them have broken, but they do need to be hand washed. Still can't beat the value and versatility for the price! Also works best if you start with crushed ice instead of whole cubes (we use the crushed ice from the ice maker in the fridge door).
Quickly dying August 16, 2010 B. Hainsworth (USA) I was very excited to get a smoothie maker for making breakfast shakes. However, the burning smell emitting from it after the first use told me it wouldn't last too long. It never could handle ice or frozen berries at all and now, after perhaps two dozen uses, the engine seems to be dying entirely. I definitely would not recommend getting it.
Don't buy this! May 26, 2010 Silvermane (USA) 0 out of 19 found this review helpful
Its true and fact they selling it 24.99 its not exactly cheap compared to 29.99? how much volume does it chop in ice from what I can tell it goes chops about 16 oz serving which for those us who take with us or not depending on who we are? We only get one use out of due that entire gasket it last only through first use. you need plenty of gaskets or need something made out metal for whole idea. Due to fact if you try to get second use without ice it most likely burn or smoke?
